1) **Concrete imagery** — use specific sensory details (not abstractions)
2) **Sound** — pay attention to rhythm, assonance, consonance
3) **Surprise** — include at least one unexpected image or turn of phrase
4) **Economy** — every word must earn its place (cut any word that doesn't add meaning)
5) **Ending** — the last line should land with weight or resonance
6) **No clichés** — avoid: heart, soul, darkness/light metaphors, tears like rain

After the poem, provide:
- A brief note on craft choices made
- One line you're most proud of and why
- An alternate ending option
